We’ve been getting lots of stares from all the farm animals and wild life, like Elk, as we quietly pass through their territory and likely break up the monotony of there day. Now Kim wants to start an Alpaca farm!

We departed our Sisters hotel a little later than planned, about 9:30am, as we struck up a conversation with Skip and Diane at the next table over at the Grand Stay Hotel breakfast nook. This was the first place that was back to having breakfast amenities and we ate well. Skip and Diane were in town visiting one of their children and grandchildren. Skip was retired from the service and a colon cancer survivor. They knew the country well and inquired about our route to Virginia.

On the way out of town we took the opportunity to stop at Eurosports bike shop to pump up the tires and grab some electrolyte tablets for the water bottles and at Rays market for a couple extra bottles of water. With that our ride started at 10am east on Hwy 126.

Kim has been in charge of our team’s health and wellness program. Everything from hydration, supplements, what and when we’re eating and taking our energy products. With the generous sponsorship of Envia Health in Plymouth MN, we were loaded up with supplements for our trip.

Here is a list of our supplements and when we are taking them:

Eniva E-Z probiotic – before the ride

Vitamin D – before the ride

Fish Oil – before the ride

Eniva ATP Pro energy production and muscle mass gains – before the ride

Eniva Vascular Advantage promotes healthy energy – before the ride

Eniva Vibe multivitamin – before the ride

Eniva ultraShot promotes focus and energy – during the ride

Eniva Vibe multivitamin – during the ride

Hydration is a basic necessity. When we stopped at Eurosports bike shop this morning we inquired about a camel pack for carrying water. His opinion was we’re better off carry extra water bottles as the water packs are difficult to clean and carrying it on your back will only make you hotter. So, we’re sticking with carrying extra plastic water bottles with us.

Leaving Sisters we noticed the stark change in landscape from the lush green pine forests on the west side of McKenzie Pass to the high desert look and feel heading east. It’s really dry right now in Prineville with a Red Flag fire warning because it’s both dry and very windy.

Our route today took us through the back country roads and into the community of Terrebonne where we grabbed some chips, a gallon of water, to replenish our water bottles, and ate a peanuts butter sandwich we fixed early that day. From there we kept heading east on a quiet country road until getting on Hwy 370.  It didn’t have a shoulder, but the traffic was light, as we had a steady, unshaded and flat ride into Prineville.  Upon arriving in town, we sat down to share a refreshing cold strawberry smoothie at the Prineville Coffee Shop and enjoyed the shaded outdoor seating while we search for accommodation. As we rode through town to our place for the night, we understood why the hotel price was so high. It’s Friday and high school graduation night and they were doing a graduation parade all through town with each car/truck decked out carrying a graduate. It was a pretty cool site.

It looks like we’ll be camping the next couple nights as we get further into the mountains. I’ll update you when we get service again.
