Thank you again for everybody’s campaign support for the Lobular Breast Cancer Alliance and following along on our journey. We’d be very happy if you’d continue to share our journey through your social media avenues with the ultimate mission of raising awareness of Lobular Breast Cancer and the goals of the LCBA. Every dollar adds up and will make a difference. Thank you!

It was a rest day and we slept in till 8:30am this morning. I started a pot of coffee with the motel 2-cupper as we searched through our gear for our daily supplements and discussed, should we have our leftover pizza for breakfast or head to the only breakfast place in town, the Granite Mountain Café. The choice was simple and we started out for the 3-block walk and got sidetracked into the bed & breakfast historic farm house for another cup of coffee.  We chatted with Sarah and Rory, the owners, and found that Rory was in his mid-40’s and him and Sarah bought the place from his parents. He said it was time to settle down. We asked about their business and Kim said the place was very quaint and that the only thing she looks for when staying some place is that it’s clean, and she was very impressed by the cleanliness.

After 45 minutes of chatting, we strolled over to the Café and they were busy and had a wait for a table. There were 2 stools open at the counter, not next to each other, and Kim asked the ladies sitting in between the open stools if they wouldn’t mind scooting down a seat. Of course, they obliged. The place was hopping and we ordered our old feel-good breakfast of eggs, bacon, hash browns and toast. As we waited for our meals I watched as the staff was calm and busy flow, as the knew each other’s movements and needs. Little things like that I tend to notice.

We also ran into our new friend Jesse, who we had met while he was working at the pizza joint, we had eaten at last night. We had previously commented that he was a dead-on look alike for Bill Hader from SNL. He was amused and smiled. Jesse is a college student back home for the summer flinging pizza. As we chatted, and to paraphrase, he commented that we must be “The Feel Good Squad” in town to spread some joy. We chuckled and said, “you betcha.”

Breakfast was scrumptious and we stopped by the convenience store for tomorrow’s breakfast; bananas and yogurt and the go-to travel food, PBnJ sandwiches, chips and jerky. Kim spent the next couple hours in the B&B parlor bar catching up on some banking, social media and post cards. We strolled to the post office to drop them off and then on the way back we stopped for an early dinner at the only open restaurant in town, Front Porch Pizza, for a salad and lemon water while enjoying the A/C. The plan is to get an early start for the 65-mile stretch to White Bird tomorrow, hopefully arriving before it hits 90 degrees.

The picture is of the Hartland Inn with the historic farmhouse B&B, motel rooms to the left and in the background the luxury suites, taken from across highway at Front Porch Pizza.
