Today Kim and I got up at 7:30am with the sun lighting up our tent as it rose over the mountains to the east. Colton rolled out of the bed of his pickup truck about 8am. We brushed our teeth and strolled over to the small store to see if they had coffee (and cream). Score! Sometimes it’s the little things that make a difference and a hot cup of coffee first thing in the morning makes a difference.

I noticed a wood dinner table to the side of the room and asked Chance, the owner, if I could plug in and do my blog updates. Chance was cool and said, “have at it.” When I returned with my laptop there was a group huddled around the table talking everything fly fishing. I scooted in a chair and wrote my blog while listening to the fishing stories. After spending the day around the camp we’ve learned that 90% of the people staying here are fly fishing and this area is the fly-fishing mecca.

Shout out to Josh, who is working here, on his way to Alaska. We also met a family who works in the bee business, Slide Ridge, in Utah. I was also able to borrow a bike tire pump from JD who is staying in camp.

While I was finishing up my blog post, Colton was fixing up breakfast on his new camp stove. We had eggs, fried potatoes with green peppers and cubed, leftover, steak. Another homemade meal on paper plates with plastic forks. It was delicious.

Kim went through our replenishment of supplements shipped to Colton and supplied by our Eniva folks back home. It’s added weight, but we feel it’s keeping our energy levels up. We are also going through our gear and seeing if there is anything that we can send with Colton.

After breakfast we decided we would hop in Colton’s, Big Red, pick up truck, that Grandpa Stan gave to him a few years back, and headed back to Ennis to walk the town. We stopped into the Gravel Bar for a beverage and nachos. We also needed to pick up some groceries for dinner and stopped at the grocery store on the north end of town.

Upon returning to our camp, about 30 miles back, Colton was itching to go for a bike ride with us so we rode 4-miles to southeast to Grizzly’s Bar and Grill, near another campground for a beverage. They weren’t open yest so be backtracked to the Driftwood Bar & Bistro.

When we got back to our camp we chatted with Colton about his future plans as a 25-year-old. It’s so fun to chat with our children as adults now.

Colton’s roommate was planning to come down and stay with us for the night, so we held off on fixing dinner until she arrived. Maggie rolled in about 6pm. A nice young gal from Massachusetts and college student at St. Lawrence University. Kim and I have enjoined our time with her.

Colton fixed up a cubed chicken, potatoes with green peppers and onions. Another delicious homecooked meal. After dinner we all took a walk over to the bridge across the Madison River for another view of the flowing river and a few fly-fisherman standing in the water along its banks.

We were up long enough to see the stars overhead and called it a night at 11pm.
